Wallpaper Guide
Preparation
Ensure walls are dry, smooth, clean, and free from dust. Remove any old wallpaper and loose paint.
Walls should have a uniform, light neutral colour with no strong contrasts. If the surface is highly absorbent, apply a primer/sealer. For walls with silk paint, lightly sand the surface to create texture.
Allow new plaster and paint to fully dry before proceeding. For the best results, apply a high-quality lining paper in a cross-lined pattern.
Pasting & Hanging
Our wallpaper is paste-the-wall, meaning the adhesive should be applied directly to the wall, not the back of the wallpaper.
- Use a high-quality paste specifically designed for non-woven wallpaper. Avoid all-purpose or heavy-duty pastes.
- Prepare the paste according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Use a pencil and a spirit level to mark guidelines on the wall, ensuring the first strip is perfectly straight.
- Apply the paste evenly to a slightly wider area than the roll width.
- Check the pattern direction before hanging. Hang one length at a time.
- Press the dry wallpaper onto the pasted area with a soft brush, smoothing from the centre outward to remove bubbles. Avoid pushing excess paste into the seams.
- Trim the top and bottom edges with a sharp knife.
- Any paste on the wallpaper surface should be wiped off immediately with a clean, damp sponge. Do not rub.
